Reed Cagle has always been a man with a drive to succeed. After working with joint venture partners to engage many energy industry professionals, he focused on sponsoring ventures and exploring gas, oil, and mineral sites. In 2006, Reed partnered up with Mid Continent Drilling and financed the experience to build a 2000-horsepower drilling rig. Today, they own a mesa model 1500 drilling rig capable of drilling down to depths of 20,000 feet.

In 1996, Mr. Cagle left Kinlaw to start his business in Dallas, Texas. In 1997, he formed Heartland Energy Inc. The independent energy firm would become HEI. Mr. Cagle acted as the president and chief executive officer of the firm.

From 2006-2008, HEI was recognized by Inc Magazine as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies. The company ranked #24 on the list in 2006, #157 in 2007, and #1158 in 2008.
